Miami, Florida(Hexa PR Wire–May 1, 2024)–Power Up Nursing, LLC, a leader in healthcare wellness innovation, has partnered with Jackson Health System in Miami, FL, to launch a cutting-edge pilot program aimed at bolstering nurses’ well-being and resilience. This groundbreaking initiative introduces a blend of advanced technology and therapeutic methodology, with the aim to revitalize the healthcare industry.

“This health and vitality pilot for our nurses is a natural extension of our commitment to building a
strong Jackson culture within our facilities and community that’s focused on caring for both our patients and world-class caregivers,” said Tala Teymour, associate vice president of Jackson’s total rewards and employee wellness program.”

Key Details of the Partnership

• Smart Ring Technology: Nurses participating in the program will use a smart ring to monitor critical personal health metrics, such as heart rate variability, sleep patterns, overall heart rate, and daily activity levels. Tracking these vitals will enable better management of stress, a pivotal factor for nurses’ well-being.

• Somatic Functional TherapyTM: At the heart of the program lies Somatic Functional TherapyTM (SFT), an evidence-based educational system of self-care, mindful movements, and pain resolution. SFT programs have been clinically proven to significantly reduce stress and stress-related conditions, including chronic pain, sleep disturbance, depression, and fatigue.

• Preventative Goals: With nurse burnout escalating and directly impacting healthcare delivery, the ultimate ambition of this program is to enhance vitality and reduce turnover, call-outs, and medical errors that derive from fatigue and stress. Brief digital health education and inspirational messages will be sent regularly to all participants that reinforce how easy it is to beat stress, decrease chronic pain, and live a healthier life every day.

• Scalability Impact: The pilot will set the stage for a potential larger deployment across Jackson Health System facilities and will serve as a reference for nationwide application to other
hospitals across the United States.

“I have worked in hospital wellness and community outreach for more than 30 years, beginning at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Health System and then through a national program I founded with Stephen Klasko, MD, called Spirit of Women that was used as a marketing and community health strategy at more than 250 U.S. hospitals for more than 15 years,” Tanya Abreu, CEO of Power Up Nursing LLC, shared. “We learned that nurses have always been at the heart of health care,
and the trusted leaders in community wellness. We thought it time, especially after the COVID trauma, to focus on the resilience, vitality, and joy of nurses and healthcare providers everywhere. Through our partnership with a revered institution such as Jackson, we are cementing our commitment to addressing critical health care challenges faced by nurses today. We believe this initiative will not only nurture a healthier nursing workforce, but will set new standards for hospital-based wellness programs.”
